CONGRATS TO THE 2012-13
LMS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM

CONGRATULATIONS! on the outstanding performance at the Science Olympiad State Tournament, LMS is # 1. The team is going to the National competition for the third time.  The Science Olympiad National Tournament 2013 will be held on May 17 and 18 at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

The students have prepared all year to achieve first place. They have taken test on biology,chemistry,earth science,astronomy,physics and technology. These are rigorous and difficult tests and our kids are to be commended for their outstanding work. Let's continue to support our Olympians as they move on to the National tournament.

To receive a Standard of Excellence at the grade or building level in reading, the building must make AYP in the "All Students" group. Additionally, the following are expected percentage values for a school of excellence in reading.

· Grade 6:   60 percent of students classified as Exceeds Standard or above; 80 percent as Meets Standard and above; and 95 percent as Approaches Standard and above.

· Grades 7-8:   55 percent of students classified as Exceeds Standard and above; 75 percent as Meets Standard and above; and 90 percent classified as Approaches Standard and above.

To receive a Standard of Excellence at the grade or building level in mathematics, the building must make AYP in the "All Students" group. Additionally, the following are expected percentage values for a school of excellence in mathematics.

· Grade 6:   60 percent of students classified as Exceeds Standard or above; 80 percent as Meets Standard and above; and 95 percent as Approaches Standard and above.

· Grades 7-8:   60 percent of students classified as Exceeds Standard and above; 80 percent as Meets Standard and above; and 90 percent classified as Approaches Standard and above.

To receive a Standard of Excellence at the grade or building level in science, the building must make AYP in the "All Students" group.  Additionally, the percentage values for a school of excellence in science closely resembles that of reading and mathematics.
